Week 3: Digbeth - Handwritten
15-02-2010/Barn St./Muhammed Ali/Handwritten note placed beside the buzzer, but to some people it wouldn't make sense as you wouldn't ring a buzzer, you would BUZZ a buzzer. There is an irregularity of height in the three lines, and also no consistency.
15-02-2010/Pickford St./Halilibrahim/Brick work used as a grid, following the same design in lettering. Even with the lettering weathering away, it is still perfect lettering for an exterior notice.
15-02-2010/Fazeley St./ Halilibrahim Shevket / Machine typeface, using the brick work as a grid, with height and width of the letters. There's a black outline around the lettering. We normally see black outlines as a shadow to show a 3D standout, but with this outline, we see it to make the letters stand out from the wall.
Week 3: Andover St. - Different sides of a message
15-02-2009/Andover St./Halilibrahim Shevket/Lettering on the accordian gate, which has written on it "Do Not Construct, 24 hour access". But in different views this message is not presented as some letters are not seen, due to the angle. Each fold acts like a grid for the Sans-Serif typeface. Each letter is bold and narrow at the top, but when we read the lettering underneath we see one higher than the other, not following a line. We see a vertical line grid, but no horizontal line grid.

Week 2 : NEW St.
Present: Halilibrahim, Muhammed, Amir
Walk down New St. up to the Baskerville house, taking photos of different typefaces, the changes in typefaces, and style.
08-02-2010/Chamberlain Square/Halilibrahim Shevket/ Script based, engraved into some sort of metal. Either hand or machine made.
08-02-10/Victoria square/Halilibrahim Shevket/ Engraved into stone, but leaving negative space between each letter. Serif font. Victoria Square in Serif, Bold, while the lettering underneath thinner in thickness.
08-02-2010/?/Halilibrahim Shevket/ Fancy floral lettering, and the usage of small tile pieces to construct the whole letter. Wouldn't expect this type of typeface in the area we were walking through as most of the typefaces were sans-serif.
08-02-2010/Cannon St./Halilibrahim Shevket/ Bauhaus style typeface, sans-serif, 3D, using the tile work underneath as a grid layout to where the letters would be placed.
08-02-2010/Needless Alley?Temple St.?/Halilibrahim Shevket/ Ghost lettering, the letters have either dropped off or weathered away from rain or heat, which has left away where they originally were. The dirt has built up where the adhesive was and left the outline of the typeface. Maybe unisex hairdressers.
